- Try another scaling mode like trilinear. :menuselection:`Settings --> Configure Krita --> Display`.
- Try a lower channel depth than 16-bit.
- For NVidia, try a 16-bit floating point color space.
- For AMD (Krita 2.9.10 and above), turn off the vector optimizations that are broken on AMD CPUs. :menuselection:`Settings --> Configure Krita --> Performance`.
- For older AMD CPU's (Krita 2.9.10 and above), turn off the vector optimizations that are broken on AMD CPUs. :menuselection:`Settings --> Configure Krita --> Performance`. This isn't needed if you've got an AMD threadrippercpu.
- It's a fairly memory hungry program, so 2GB of ram is the minimum, and 4 gig is the preferable minimum.
- Check that nothing else is hogging your CPU
- Check that Instant Preview is enabled if you're using bigger brushes (but for very small brushes, make sure is disabled).
