Define text style & content of title in notifications/messages
https://hig.kde.org/platform/notification.html currently dues not give hints what style and content to use for the title of notifications Looking at current titles in use, there is a mixture of capitalization, sentence style & content:
- "E-Mail Successfully Sent"
- "KDE Connect"
- "%1: Low Battery"
- "Transferred file renamed"
- "Offline Updates"
- "Restart is required"
- "Upgrade available"
- "No Network Connection"
- $NameofDevice
- "Network authentication"
- "Failed to create hotspot %1"
- "Clipboard history"
- "Failed to start screencasting"
- "Your nick was mentioned by %1 in %2"
- no title at all
(sorry, just grepped a bit using lxr.kde.org, no time for full analysis of what is in use).
For a more consistent appearance it would be nice to have definition of what content should be part of a notification/message to the user, and how it should be phrased/styled in the default UI text (AEnglish). As well as guidance for the mere developer what text they should put with which style in the code calls.
Perhaps different aspects also apply for titles of interactive notifications/messages (one could call them dialog ;) )? There surely is some overlap with dialog windows (think titles used for file pickers, credentials entering, etc).
I would expect for translators it also will be good to have some subtype of the UI context marker @title
, e.g. @title:message
or @title:notification
, so they can style the translation as needed for their localized HIG. (see https://api.kde.org/frameworks/ki18n/html/prg_guide.html section "User Interface Markers")
