Make operators localisable and typograpically correct

This makes the arithmetic operators (+−×/) localisable.
It also changes the default (English) operators to be
typographically correct, e.g. ‘×’ instead of ‘x’ for
multiplication.

A comment meant for the translators was removed,
since it wasn’t actually extracted to the translation
files (and wasn’t needed anyway).
