The year is 2322. Jasem's great-great-great-grandson receives a bug report from a user that our ellipses for galaxies no longer line up with the galaxies on screen, especially near the celestial poles. We should be precessing our J1950.0 / J2000.0 position angles to JNow.v3.6.1Akarsh SimhaAkarsh Simhahttps://invent.kde.org/education/kstars/-/issues/189Henry-Draper numbers shown in the popup menu are sometimes wrong.2022-06-06T04:07:49ZAkarsh SimhaHenry-Draper numbers shown in the popup menu are sometimes wrong.https://invent.kde.org/education/kstars/-/issues/162Henry-Draper star catalog search is broken2023-06-02T23:24:54ZAkarsh SimhaHenry-Draper star catalog search is brokenKStars ships with the Henry Draper star catalog in an awkward fashion, viz. as a binary index file `Henry-Draper.idx`. This is because the stars with HD designations are saved in a binary file database that is dynamically loaded into memory as needed. The separate binary index file `Henry-Draper.idx` allows us to search for a `HD-`star without having to do a linear search over the database. However, this functionality, which used to be exposed in the Find Dialog, no longer works. This means our users can obtain the HD catalog number of a star that is on the screen, but have no way of finding a star given a HD number other than through hitting SIMBAD / online services. This should be fixed in a manner similar to how the problem is handled for the `CatalogsDB`, but with this custom-implemented binary database and binary index.v3.6.6Valentin Boettcherhiro@protagon.spaceValentin Boettcherhiro@protagon.spacehttps://invent.kde.org/education/kstars/-/issues/125Proper motion of stars in KStars differs significantly from those shown by SI...2022-03-07T05:54:13ZAkarsh SimhaProper motion of stars in KStars differs significantly from those shown by SIMBADInvestigate: Is this natural error because the numbers are from different sources, or are they referenced to a different epoch? In particular, we had a bug filed long ago saying that Hipparcos positions were referenced to J1990 or some such epoch. It would be good to check if we are getting the right coordinates and proper motions for both bright and dim stars.v3.5.8Akarsh SimhaAkarsh Simhahttps://invent.kde.org/education/kstars/-/issues/41Focusing on Objects at launch does not work if time is stopped.2021-09-08T06:45:25ZValentin Boettcherhiro@protagon.spaceFocusing on Objects at launch does not work if time is stopped. To reproduce:
