Update nightly appimage dependencies
The nightly appimage dependencies are not up to date (last build on 19.02.2020) as a consequence e.g. libass for subtitles is missing. @mardelle described the problem on a post in the the kdenlive dev channel:
The problem is that the AppImage build process is split in 2 jobs:
A. The "AppImage dependency" build -> can only be triggered by the KDE sysadmins
B. The "Kdenlive + MLT" build. -> is build daily without issues
So we have to ping them on the sysadmin channel for a build, which can sometimes take a few hours. Then the build itselfs takes 5 to 6 hours to run. So fixing an error in this can sometimes take several days if anything goes wrong.
To further complicate things, it is build on top of a Docker image that is common to several KDE builds so if we need to install a package, we have to check that it is ok for other builds. From what I know, the CI jobs - including AppImage builds are supposed to be moved to the gitlab infrastructure, allowing more flexibility but this has been delayed and not sure if/when this will be a reality. For the stable Appimages, I use a local docker job with some custom packages installed and up to date scripts. It would for sure be much better to have updated dependencies for the daily builds.
First step would be to check with sysadmins if a gitlab transition is realistic in the next months for AppImage jobs, and ideally someone else volunteers to maintain it I will gladly help.
