Filename to Tag naming trickery
Hi Urs, all, I'mk looking to populate various tags from the filenames, but including specific characters in the names. I'm unsure of how Kid3 processes the request. See pic: http://i.imgur.com/VhPPFSg.png Most of the batch of selected tracks (ready to save) on the left already have the correct details for most stuff, so I just wanna make "RA.XXX" the track name, and the put the date in the composer field, in the format it is now, YYYY.MM.DD. But even if I opt to populate the other fields (the data for them ARE correct, after all) I run into problems. Using the format I've set: %{tracknumber} %{title} %{artist} - %{composer} I'm not sure which way kid3 processes the request. Reading left to right, I would assume it would assume everything before the first space was the track number, everything before the second space was the title, everything after that and before " - " was artist, and everything after " - " was composer, essentially looking for the user entered characters (mostly simply spaces) and autopopulating the strings in their corrct places. And this works for single artist names, e.g Efdemin, but fails for more than 1 word names e.g. Guy Gerber, so maybe it's reading right to left?
Now I've played around a bit and found that I can populate just composer with %{ignore} - %{composer} which is easy enough since composer is on its own, sectioned off with a unique character string (" - "). But can you think how I would populate all of the fields in the first example?
Cheers! Simon
