Reminder not kicking in

One of the things which was not working in any of the versions of Kalendar I was running so far is Reminders. I just installed v 0.2.0 and tested again, but no alarms. Given that I never received a reminder I am not sure where to check. Should I expect, a popup window or rather a notification in the Plasma notifications?

The test just now should created something at 12:05 but there was no popup, no Plasma alarm and nothing in the syslog either. Am I maybe missing an Akonadi alerting service?
