Customize Featured Apps List

Hello! I was looking through the documentation and was unable to find if there was a way to customize the Featured apps list in Discover. It appears the json config for this is hardcoded to a URL found here. Is my understanding of this correct?

For downstream distros (especially more purpose built and not general computation) being able to control what apps are forefront of the store would be really helpful IMO. Obviously, we could patch it and rebuild the package, but I'd rather spend my time improving upstream features that help everyone 😄

For reference, gnome-software does this as documented here so its not out of the realm of possibilities.
