Fractional scaling:

The situation is a mess, clearly from feedback just scaling in the framebuffer is not fit for purpose. We need content drawn at native resolution from clients where possible.

The only important takeaway is that we should be open minded, try all the things and stop talking about hypotheticals, but the real world. Lets just implement all the possible options and then go back with solid answers.
