Hiding the panel for space saving in landscape orientation
In landscape mode there is much less screen height to work with. Hiding the panel would save a decent amount of space, and if done correctly wont be an issue. Especially with the Pinephone's hardware keyboard (which will be designed for landscape orientation) having a toggle of some form to hide the panel might be useful. Users could use the keyboard to navigate the device using key bindings, or could also use gestures such as swiping up to open the multitasking view to close and switch apps. It could even just be a panel hide feature that lets the panel autohide when not used for a minute, and when it detects the user's finger near the screen edge it will show the panel again.
