Replicable reference system for lab measurements

It will be useful for the lab measurements to have a replicable reference system.

What are convenient and quick ways to bring the system to a known state? Some ideas brought up at the Sprint (11 Dec. 2021):

  • Filesystem snapshots (e.g., Snapper)

  • Clearing system cache

  • Replacing configuration files
