Proposal: Create IWG - Induction Working Group to help incorporate projects into KDE
We have recently seen a slight uptick in projects that may be of interest for KDE. For example: - [Deskflow](https://github.com/deskflow/deskflow)1 is an advanced fork of of Synergy that works on Wayland (and X11, macOS and WIndows). Deskflow allows you to share your keyboard, mouse and clipboard across several systems nearly seamlessly, e.g. you can have, say, three devices side by side, one with Plasma, another with macOs and another with Windows, and you could treat the three screens as one extended desktop and access each system using one keyboard and mouse/trackpad. - [Prasmoid](https://github.com/PRASSamin/prasmoid) set up the scaffolding for contributors who want to create their first plasmoid. - [Linux Show Player](https://www.linux-show-player.org/) is a graphical tool for managing sounds in live stage events (theatre plays, musicals, conferences, etc.) - [Augundur](https://github.com/Agundur-KDE/KCast) is a KDE Plasma 6 widget that lets you cast video files or youtube URLs to a Chromecast devices in your local network. Could be incorporated into Haruna maybe? I would suggest, as part of our goal of increasing the number of productive contributors, we create an Induction Working Group This group could be made up by - At least one advising developer who would revise the technical aspects of a project - At least one community member familiar with the induction and incubation process who would help guide the inducting project leaders - At least one advising member who would advise on other aspects of becoming part of the KDE community (communication channels, other working groups and teams they can use, sprints and events, etc.) This WG would - remove the uncertainty that currently exists to get a project under the KDE umbrella, which right now, for example, requires the availability, predisposition and willingness of an experienced developer to take on the task - flatten the curve by, instead of requiring the inductee to absorb a lot of confusing and intimidating information, having a guide help with and clarify the process - scout for KDE-related projects on the Internet that would be interesting for our community, and approach them and invite them to join - Encourage people with projects with similar or aligned aims as existing KDE projects, to join forces with the existing project to have one reinforced more featureful and better maintained product, instead of two, poorly maintained and lacking ones. If we succeed, we could add this to the "Get involved" pages. --- 1 Deskflow is actually on track to being incorporated as a core component of Plasma 🎉, like Spectacle or KRDP.
