Hindi Translation of tellico and merkuro application
Project abstract
This project requires translating tellico and merkuro application to hindi. tellico and merkuro has translations in a lot of languages but it lacks support for hindi language. lokalize translation tool will assist in translation.
Proposal
Hindi is the 3rd most spoken language of the world in 2019 with 615 million speakers. Adding hindi language support to a kde application would mean Increased Accessibility, Cultural Inclusivity, and Enhanced User Experience.
Tellico and merkuro is one of the most starred projects among kde projects. Tellico is used by thousands of people around the world to manage collections of books, videos, music, etc. While, merkuro provides a simple way to handle emails, calendars and contacts. This project aims to translate all sentences displayed to the user into Hindi.
A translation tool like lokalize will be used to translate every sentences. According to lokalize, there is a total of 2070 statements in Tellico and 683 statements in merkuro in need of translation. I will be updating both the documentation (docmessages) and actual application text (messages).
I will regularly update the Hindi team about my progress and any blockers.
