packaging: Add HEIF support for 3rdparty builds · 0aef9eb1
      Ivan Yossi authored
Heif only builds correctly with pkg-config using configure script, cmake build
does not create install targets and cannot find dependencies.

pkg-config is needed as defining dependencies directories as stated in
configure --help, does find the libraries but creates linker errors using
      libde265 and x265 include flags.

Use QuaZip instead of KArchive for ZIP64 support · 593dba2b
      Boudewijn Rempt authored
This makes it possible to save and load .kra files that are larger
than 4GiB -- depending on available memory, of course. There is
an option in the settings dialog to enable this; it's off by default
because older versions of Krita cannot read Zip64 files.

Note that everything that uses zip files now uses quazip, the
      karchive dependency is gone.

Comment out ffmpeg for now · e2a5181d
      Boudewijn Rempt authored
We would need to build our own ffmpeg, stripped from patent-encumbred
codecs, which would confuse our users even more. Otherwise we are
going to have real trouble, for instance with Krita in the Windows
      Store.

      https://www.ffmpeg.org/legal.html says

Q: Is it perfectly alright to incorporate the whole FFmpeg core into my own commercial product?

A: You might have a problem here. There have been cases where companies
have used FFmpeg in their products. These companies found out that once
you start trying to make money from patented technologies, the owners
of the patents will come after their licensing fees. Notably, MPEG LA
is vigilant and diligent about collecting for MPEG-related technologies.

So we really need to consider this again :-(

      Allow setting EP_PREFIX in 3rdparty · 1cde9251
      Alvin Wong authored
Some 3rdparty external projects (Qt specificly is troublesome) might
encounter errors related to paths being too long. This commit allows a
shorter prefix to be used by external projects to work around the issue.

For Windows builds, we use mingw and drmingw, and we won't
have the breakpad/webservice thing running anywhere any
time soon. Probably not this decade, maybe not even this
      century.

Fix setting the language from the environment · 36509994
      Boudewijn Rempt authored
We must absolutely NOT use i18n calls when initializing strings
statically. Use ki18n instead. Calling for translations before the
application is started is not supported and breaks initializing
      the language.
