Henry-Draper star catalog search is broken
KStars ships with the Henry Draper star catalog in an awkward fashion, viz. as a binary index file Henry-Draper.idx
. This is because the stars with HD designations are saved in a binary file database that is dynamically loaded into memory as needed. The separate binary index file Henry-Draper.idx
allows us to search for a HD-
star without having to do a linear search over the database. However, this functionality, which used to be exposed in the Find Dialog, no longer works. This means our users can obtain the HD catalog number of a star that is on the screen, but have no way of finding a star given a HD number other than through hitting SIMBAD / online services. This should be fixed in a manner similar to how the problem is handled for the CatalogsDB
, but with this custom-implemented binary database and binary index.
