Electronically Assisted Astronomy
Bring Ekos support for EAA with plugin extensions, such as ASTAP or Iris, in the same way as the Guide module does.
- Internal implementation should remain basic, and stack guided frames directly or register frames roughly, or use quick guiding to realign before adding a frame to the stack.
- Stacking would be Capture-ing frames to temporary files, and displaying the averaged result in FITSViewer. For each new frame, the stack needs to be registered and averaged. Stack could be reset manually, but if registering, large offsets should auto reset the stack.
- Simple registering would be calculating global offset and rotation given a low count of sources. The Guide module has a registration mechanism that may be used in that situation. We can expect those sources to be close from each other: we drop unrelated sources, we find the center of each, and calculate the offset and rotation for all the frames.
- The stack is consolidated into a FITS frame and ask FITSViewer to display it as a preview. A new exposure should be made in the background, if calculation doesn't exceed exposure time.
MR/task running list:
-
A list of stackers with their requirements should be consolidated. -
(!276 (closed)) Capture should implement a flexible solution to provide frames to external stackers. -
Capture should provide an infinite loop mode to produce frames. Alternately, Scheduler could be used in infinite-repeat mode with a target but this option is less user-friendly. A Scheduler wizard would be handy here.
