Style guide
Breeze icons have a somewhat consistent look, but I think we should try to incrementally evolve it, keeping it fresh or even following big, longer lasting design trends. Having a style guide would also help getting new people on board quicker. Some things we could decide and document:
- shapes: when to use the rounded rectangle, margins and sizing
- roundness: how rounded should the icon shape and details be
- color palette: a collection of colors that work well when you don't have something specific in mind
- gradients: do we want to use them, how soft, simple or complex etc.
- contrast: test icons with light and dark themes and tinting and make sure they work on any background
- do we keep the angled shadow (it's material design 1 style but ties the theme together)
- how skeumorphic, detailed or simplified should new/redesigned icons be: use the simplest shaped and colors or have a bit more lighting and realism
