Feature request: Offer to replace clips in timeline with stabilized version
Hi there!
Quite often I would assemble a little project, and upon viewing decide that a certain clip needs stabilizing.
Now there is no more stabilize effect that can be applied to the timeline, and I do understand the reasons why.
To stabilize a clip that is already on the timeline, I follow the following steps:
- Right-click on the clip on the timeline, and select "Clip in Project bin"
- Right-click on the clip in the project bin, and select clip jobs, then stabilize clip.
- Once the stabilization job has run, load it into the clip monitor, and select the same range as the clip in the timeline
- Drag the clip to the timeline and do fine adjustments on length.
This seems to be a task that is highly automate-able. It should be possible for the stabilize clip job to check whether the clip that it is processing is already used on the timeline, and offer to replace the un-stabilized segments with the stabilized clip for every segment of the un-stabilized clip that was used on the timeline. This would save quite a bit of time.
Following on that, it should also be possible to add this process to the context menu of the clip in the timeline, in which case the stabilized .mlt should just replace the original on the timeline, no questions asked.
Of course, following on all that, it would also be nice to be able to switch between the stabilized and un-stabilized versions on the timeline. :)
