Date of extracted clips should match the date of the original
It's pretty difficult to sort videos on creation date, as this is not reliably encoded inside the various file formats. I end up using the file's metadata, like creation date and modify date to sort the footage.
When chopping through loads of tedious GoPro footage, one tends to export the interesting regions and finally discard the quite often huge file. The problem with this is that this step usually happens quite a while after the footage was captured, and so the files end up with a different time stamp than the original.
It would be very, very helpful if the original's time stamps could be preserved, ideally add this option to the dialog where you select whether or not to add the cut piece to the project, as toggle-able switches.
In bash scripting it's pretty easy:
#!/bin/bash
$1=Original_Video.mp4
$2=Cut_Video.mp4
# Preserve the mode
chmod --reference="$1" "$2"
#Preserve the owner
chown --reference="$1" "$2"
#Preserve the time stamps
touch --reference="$1" "$2"
