Time Remap slopes <- feature request for smooth speed changes.
Hi there! When doing time remaps, going from one speed to another always happens abruptly. This gives a jarring effect to the viewer, and as yet I have not found a way around it.
One way of lessening the jarring effect is to make multiple keyframes between the one speed and the other speed, and incrementally increasing the speed at each keyframe. Unfortunately, this still shows steps in the output footage, unless I make each frame a keyframe with a different speed gradually increasing or decreasing between the two speeds that is needed. This is a LOT of work, and a huge pain to change if things change.
It would be great if there was a way of adding in a segment between two keyframes into the time remap which does this automatically. The way I envision it to work is that there is a tick box on the filter which just says "Ramp between before and after speed" which, when ticked would then calculate the speed required for each frame to smoothly speed up or slow down the footage to the exit speed. You would then have segments on the time remap which have constant speeds, as you have now, and segments for which the speed changes through the segment.
Does this suggestion make sense? Is it too difficult to implement?
As always, Kdenlive is some great software, and I love using it almost every day.
