Ability to pick proxy encoding per clip
I have just re-enabled vaapi acceleration on my Ryzen 7 laptop with AMD GPU. It seems a lot more stable now, and chews through all types of footage with ease.
The one type of footage it seems to have trouble with, ironically enough, is All I-frame edit friendly transcodes. Now we can't expect hardware encoders to support everything as well as software encoders.
So, to get around this limitation, it would be nice to be able to specify a different proxy encoding for troublesome clips.
In the clip properties, there is a "Proxy" setting, but unfortunately without a proxy present the menu part of it is greyed out. In here it would be awesome if one could pick a different proxy encoding profile, and re-create the proxy.
Currently, I can set to proxy profile for the entire project, and let most proxies render. Then, I can switch proxy profiles, say "no" to re-encoding all the clips, go and encode the troublesome proxy clips, and then switch back the proxy profile to my usual one, again saying "no" to re-rendering proxies. So, Kdenlive definitely support various proxy profiles in the same project.
