Clip jobs on the timeline and Improving Preview render
I've an idea to integrate some effects in the GUI allowing some of the clip jobs to be applied straight on clips on the timeline:
I make the example based on a way to fix all interlaced/deinterlace restriction the application has. In Premiere, for example, we have for this a specific menu on the right click.
Some of these tools/effects already work if applied in the timeline but we have still some restrictions based on the lack of Bob deinterlacing and for the weave interlaced. Now it's possible to program these 2 features as job by transcoding the footage with the new characteristics. To see the result of the Bob deinterlacer you have to reduce the speed of the final clip down to 50%.
The idea is to create a similar voice in the menu or spread these tools where they are needed.
How does the system work: you apply the effect on the timeline. After this a red line (has to be rendered as a preview) shows up but if you playback regularly everything is smooth because the effect is actually ignored as it cannot work in real time but only when (after you render out the new clip) transcoding. If you render the preview or you export the effect is applied during the rendering process. This approach can work with more than one effect which don't work straight in the timeline but also in case like that one, for example: #721
Consequently to this, I'd like to propose another modification to the way the preview zone is set: I think that it should be better and more intuitive if you only set the In Out point of the zone you want to render and just click the render but to without add the preview zone first. Just setting In and ut and call for the preview rendering will automatically add the new zone. Secondary I suggest to always render only the selected Zone instead of rendering always from the beginning of the all zones already added : sometimes I lose the rendering in a previous part of the timeline that I don't need to check at the moment because I have no time for re-render it but I need to render a specific area which follows. In this case I'm obliged to remove all the added rendered zones and add them again later: this operation asks time that it's not needed. I think that the render from the beginning of all the areas has to happen only when the automatic render is active.
