This guide describes how to install Kaidan on Linux by using the Flatpak
repository.

This guide describes how to install and update Kaidan's latest development version (nightly) on Linux by using its Flatpak repository.
## 1. Install Flatpak
## Install Flatpak
If you haven't installed [Flatpak](https://flatpak.org/) already, you first need
to do that. You will find instructions on their website. Generally installing it
is rather easy since most distributions already provide packages for it.
[Flatpak](https://flatpak.org) needs to be [installed](https://flatpak.org/setup/) for all further steps.
Here is an example for Debian-based systems:
```bash
sudo apt install flatpak
```
## 2. Add the KDE repository
## Add the Flathub Repository
The Kaidan Flatpak builds are kindly provided and built by KDE. Thus, you need
to add their repository:
Kaidan uses KDE's Flatpak runtime which is in the Flathub repository.
That repository must be added:
```bash
flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https://flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo
flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists kdeapps --from https://distribute.kde.org/kdeapps.flatpakrepo
flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https://dl.flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo
```
## 3. Install Kaidan
## Add Kaidan's Nightly Repository
Then you can install Kaidan by:
Kaidan has an own Flatpak repository for nightly builds.
That repository must be added:
```bash
flatpak install kdeapps im.kaidan.kaidan
flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists kaidan-nightly https://cdn.kde.org/flatpak/kaidan-nightly/kaidan-nightly.flatpakrepo
```
If you run Kaidan with GNOME, which is the case for the regular Ubuntu, you can get a bit more appropriate theming with an additional Flatpak:
## Install Kaidan
```
flatpak install kdeapps org.kde.KStyle.Adwaita
You can install Kaidan now:
```bash
flatpak install kaidan-nightly im.kaidan.kaidan
```
You should now be able to find Kaidan in your start menu. Alternatively, you can start it by running this command:
Once Kaidan is installed, you can start like any other application (e.g., by clicking on its application icon).
Alternatively, you can start it by running the following command:
```bash
flatpak run im.kaidan.kaidan
```
