Revert new spinbox style in the 5.23 branch

Some prominent apps like VLC are designed with the old style of spinbox in mind and none of the hacks/workarounds I tried worked universally without causing issues elsewhere (see !142 (closed)). This MR reverts the new style to the old style on the 5.23 branch.
