Stylus input issues on Wayland
My observation is that stylus input works much worse on Wayland compared to X11. On X11 I believe it simply emulates a pointing device, but individual apps can opt into a different kind of input with extra parameters like pressure and orientation.
On Wayland we get special stylus input events, but the problem here is that most apps don't handle stylus input well. You get issues like drag-and-drop not working, right-click being broken, even basic left-click being broken in various places, etc. I can reproduce all of these issues with 30 seconds of naive testing in the apps from multiple vendors that I randomly have open. Those might be app issues, but when the entire ecosystem is generally broken, it points to a deeper issue. That issue being that most developers of most apps and most of those apps' users are using a pointing device to interact with their apps. As a result this stylus input handling is mostly untested outside of certain graphics apps. Whereas pointing device input outside of those graphics apps is extensively tested and always working.
Is it possible to return to the X11 style, where by default the stylus emulates a pointing device, but apps where it matters can opt into stylus-specific input handling?
