Widgets, Applets, or Plasmoids?
We are currently pretty inconsistent with how we describe the components that make up Plasma. We commonly use the terms "widgets, "applets," and "plasmoids" interchangeably. This muddies our messaging. We should decide on one and use it everywhere.
Currently the most common term is "Widgets", which I'm not a huge fan of as it has multiple pre-existing meanings in the computer industry, none of which describe it. Personally I rather like "Plasmoids" as it has a textual connection to Plasma's name, and the -oid suffix colloquially means "small cute version of the thing" in English. So Plasmoids are small cute components of Plasma. Coming up with adequate translations for "Plasmoid" that work in every language might be hard, of course. So I'm open to other people's ideas too.
