Proposal: on-demand footer
With plasma-workspace#76 (closed) merged, our QML KCMs no longer have chunky double footers. The only footer you'll see is the one provided by System Settings itself.
However, now that we've removed the sidebar's otherwise adjacent footer, the page footer looks a bit awkward and breaks the illusion of a full-window-width footer:
I have a design proposal to resolve this: make the page footer only appear on-demand when there are unsaved changes, and only include the Reset and Apply buttons:
Normal appearance | "Unsaved changes" appearance |
---|---|
The Defaults and Help buttons would move into the hamburger menu, to complement the one existing page-specific action to submit a bug report. Those three menu items could then be in their own visually separated section.
This would also help us reduce the default window size and eventually resolve https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=395476.
Thoughts? This is just an idea, I'm not married to it.
