Why is kdesrc-build --run and kdesrc-run two different things?
I recently ran into an issue trying to figure out why kdesrc-build --run tokodon
was not using the locally-built kirigami add-ons and instead my system installation. I was banging my head against the wall trying to dissect ECM prefix.sh
and other things, until I realized kdesrc-build --run
and kdesrc-run
are two different ways of running applications. Why is it this way, and should we just merge them? Is there a specific case where you don't want to run KDE applications in a non-kde-src-build environment? If so, maybe we should just add a flag not to source prefix.sh
to kdesrc-run
instead.
Also, I have no idea where I got the idea to use kdesrc-build --run
instead of kdesrc-run
, even the Get Involved page mentions kdesrc-run
.
