Support for rsync incremental snapshots
Hi,
My backup strategy relies heavily on kup for its ease of use, and perfect kde integration. I have tried a lot of programs along the years, and, the best feature I have found nowhere else is the file digger.
I could backup with tar, or rsnapshot reliably, but no other program I came across so far would give me the security of restoring selectively the files I need navigating with a gui across multiple backup versions. I cannot stress enough the value of this feature.
As you all know better than me, I am sure, python 2 is no longer supported by Kubuntu, and I guess it is a matter of time for Kde neon or Kaosx. As far as I understood the bup team is having a hard time porting it to python 3 due to some data type compatibility issues.
So, I was wondering if it could be possible to add the capability of saving incremental snapshots (like rsnapshot does) to the rsync backup type you already support. rsnapshot (rsync wrapper) would be a pretty good alternative for bup versioning.
I know I can set up rsync or rsnapshot with cron jobs, but it is no match to the kde integration, external disk detection, and selective restore kup offers.
I hope I was not too long, thank you for your time )
