It is extremely slow (~100 ms on my machine) and hardly changes.
Imho unless you end up compiling your own libarchive, this cannot really change at runtime (except your distro happened to have switched build flags between installations). And if you compile it yourself, I hope you know what you're doing and restart the app if you test anything.
