Proposal for a new structure
Currently, the structure is like this:
- Menu items are the same as on kde.org;
- The home page contains a list of popular apps and a list of categories with apps in them, the search box filters apps together with categories they are in;
- Category pages listing apps in each category repeat the same content as on the home page;
- Platform pages listing apps on each platform (Android, Windows) can only be accessed from pages of apps that are on that platform;
- There is no direct way to access the page listing all categories ("/categories") or the page listing other platforms ("/platforms").
My proposal:
- Remove "Products" and "Develop" menu items, they are more relevant for kde.org; keep "Get Involved" and "Donate" for newcomers and for donators. Add "Categories", "Other platforms", and "All apps" items which link to respective pages;
- The home page contains only the list of popular apps, and a link to "All apps" page, maybe links to "Categories" and "Other platforms" pages as well. No category listing or search box yet;
- "Categories" and "Other platforms" menu items link to "/categories" and "/platforms" pages, respectively. From there users can get to each category page and each platform page;
- "All apps" page just list all apps, possibly grouped by the initial letter in names, and no categories. The search box is moved to this page, and search results only contain a list of apps without categories.
Thoughts?
