As silly as it may sound, it breaks the compliance with the spec as the ".desktop" suffix is part of the standard.

BUG: 464427

Marked as Draft because I am not very familiar with this codebase and I was unable to test it. Some guidance would be necessary (or otherwise a different approach to the problem with the problem resolved)
