Text Editing Mode
From discussion about what a text tool should look like, I came to the conclusion that there's two types of text tool: An editing tool and a typesetting tool. Most image editors provide a Typesetting tool that happens to be able to edit text.
Text editing mode will focus on editing text on-canvas. This is particularly useful for (indie) comic artists, who need to create a synergy between text and image, and thus may need to do writing while sketching. This is in contrast to people who frequently work from a brief, and just make text look pretty, their mode is typesetting mode (#28)
- Primary use case is editing the text, which resembles a word processor in basic usage.
- Rich text formatting can be set, but it should at all costs not interfere with typing text.
- On-canvas interaction consists of:
- Selecting text
- Inserting/Deleting Text.
- Moving the cursor
- Adjusting the path/wrapping shape.
- Simple transform of the text (moving it).
- Copy+Paste text.
This will be the primary mode that phase 1 and 2 will focus on.
